{2012: A Big Year}

December 31, 2012 Comments : 4

When I look back on this past year, I think about all of the wonderful memories and “firsts” I’ve had. In a way, this year has absolutely flown by, and in another, it seems like it’s been a long year. For a majority of the year, I was planning our wedding, so I was pretty busy actually! No one tells you that wedding planning is almost a full-time job in itself – so it felt like I had two jobs for most of the year! Let’s see a few highlights:

{January}
We had gotten engaged just a few weeks earlier, and I immediately jumped into wedding planning mode! Within a few weeks in January, we had picked our ceremony venue, reception venue, and photographer. After getting the biggest wedding tasks squared away, I was much less stressed and anxious for the rest of the wedding planning process!
{February}
My parents hosted an engagement party for M & I – all of our family and close friends were there to celebrate the exciting news! In my efforts to stay on top of wedding planning, my bridesmaids, mom, and I also went dress shopping and I found THE dress the first day of shopping. It also happened to be the very first dress I tried on. We also picked out the bridesmaids dresses!
{March}

I went to California for the first time ever, for work. I also ran the Shamrock Half Marathon again. We had our engagement photos taken – I loved them then, and I still love them! I also bought my “something blue” – wedding shoes!
{April}
Went to the beach for Easter with M & my family. Finally purchased Tone It Up! Got to work on some more wedding planning…including the fun part – our wedding registry!
{May}
We picked our honeymoon destination – The Dominican Republic! I reminisced about our 2011 backpacking trip to Europe on the anniversary of our flight to London. I found out I had to have a suspicious mole removed from my arm – and regretted all of those college days I spent in a tanning bed.
{June}
We sent out our Save-the-Dates and I finally shared them on the blog! I discussed wedding cakes. I had a wedding/bridezilla/breakdown moment. Don’t worry, I regained my sanity. Wedding planning does that to the best of us, it’s true. ha.
{July}
Went to Washington, D.C., for a work event. Sent out our wedding invitations! Went to Ft. Lauderdale for work. Bridal shower invitations went out, and I shared one on the blog.
{August}
We picked out our wedding flowers (nothing like the last minute!). Had a crazy, busy month full of exciting wedding plans, including two bridal showers. Had my bridal portraits taken!
{September}
Went to my first Tech game post-graduation, at FedEx Field. Finished up wedding plans…counted down the days until October 13th!
{October}

Married the love of my life on October 13th. After 10 months of hard work, planning a wedding, we were finally able to celebrate with all of our family & friends! We also honeymooned in The Dominican Republic for 8 days!
{November}
We got our first puppy together – a toy Yorkie named Paige! We spent Thanksgiving with our families…our first ‘married’ holiday. I recapped the first part of our wedding day – “Getting Ready“!
{December}

We enjoyed our first Christmas together as a married couple….and with our new puppy! We enjoyed decorating our first home for the holidays and starting new traditions. We celebrated two months of marriage….time flies. I also recapped our wedding ceremony!
I’d say 2012 was a wonderful and exciting year for us – we’re both very blessed! I’m looking forward to 2013 and a fresh start – now that the wedding planning fun is over, we can just relax a little more and enjoy each other’s company. We also have Paige…who is still in need of some serious training! We both have big goals and dreams for 2013. I’m very optimistic about the year to come! I have several really big goals for the new year…can’t wait to share more…but for now, I’ll leave you to guess! 🙂

Last week to this week ➡️ We’re SO grateful Last week to this week ➡️ We’re SO grateful for a quick recovery from pneumonia — having a sick child is scary enough, but to top it off with no space in our local hospitals’ PICU and being flown to Asheville, you can imagine we were beyond stressed last week 😩 So so grateful she’s back to normal and on International Women’s Day, it felt like a good time to celebrate Brynn 🥰 Thank you to all of our friends & family who reached out, lent a helping hand and kept us in your thoughts & prayers ❤️

Prolon Day 3 | The day started off really good — Prolon Day 3 | The day started off really good — I felt very clear-minded and awake this AM 🥳 Truly, I was nervous because today was a very low-cal day and I wasn’t sure how I’d feel 😅 I did grab a plain iced espresso because my energy was depleting super quickly and that def helped 👌🏼 After lunch, though, I started to hate depriving myself of real food and disliked that I couldn’t push myself in my workouts like I usually do 😒 After dealing with three kids who clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed 😆, slicing my hand open with a knife and being cranky and irritable because I’ve been hangry for 3 days, I caved. And sorry, not sorry ✌🏼 I just wanted a dang salad and some protein so I can lift heavy things 💪🏼 Moral of the story, listen to your body and what it needs. And maybe try a 1-2 day cleanse/fast because that’s about all mine could handle 🤪
