It’s crazy how quickly a year can go by, yet certain things still feel like a lifetime ago. For me, 2013 was a year full of events and transitions, some great and some not so great. One thing I was looking forward to around this time last year was no more wedding planning (our wedding was in October 2012 and we spent all of our time that year planning away!). So needless to say, 2013 was the year of having more time to devote to other things…like being married. π It was also full of events in both my personal and professional life…here’s a recap, beginning in January 2013:
January
I spent a lot of time trying different recipes and blogging about them in January. Perhaps I was thinking of becoming a food blogger? I don’t know…but I do know that recipes are few and far in between these days!
I also completed a little Pinterest-inspired DIY project!
February
I made my ideal birthday list and mentioned how close I was to reaching a ‘quarter life crisis’…well, it’s finally creeping up on me in 2014 – less than 3 months to go!
My love for Crock-Pot recipes made a debut with this BBQ Pulled Pork recipe…which became popular on Pinterest!
I talked about my love of fitness and wanting to join the gym again to take BodyPump classes…I joined the gym, but still have yet to take a BodyPump class. That’s neither here nor there!
I also alluded to the difficulties that were brewing in my life related to my job and vowed to be more open on the blog. I only half succeeded with that vow…but I did make a conscious effort to open up slightly more throughout 2013.
March
My birth month…and also the month I took a professional leap (leaving a company that I worked for far too long and allowed it to damper my usually-positive outlook) and headed up to Maryland for 21 days to train for a new career path. I ended up realizing that it was absolutely the wrong choice for me, and became a ‘stay-at-home wife’ for a month while searching for the perfect career opportunity.
March was also the month I lost my grandmother…it was a pretty stressful month if I’m being honest.
April
After I received a Juicer from my parents as a birthday gift, I jumped on the juicing train and even came up with a few of my own recipes:
I also blogged about our wedding reception….6 months post-wedding. Better late than never, right? π
May
I skipped blogging in May, but it was a really great month! I started my new job, and I’m still so grateful every day for the opportunity to work for a company that I love and that shows appreciation toward me for my contributions to the team.
My husband and I also went down to Wilmington, N.C. for a little Memorial weekend fun.
June
I finally mentioned I had a new job and talked about my love of PR.
I also discussed my love of Tone It Up…which is still continuing to this day π
July
Did a quick catch-up of my summer, including more Tone It Up mentions as well as my newfound love of Advocare. Oh yeah, and we finally joined a gym!
August
I announced that we were buying a house…it all happened pretty quickly, and the news kind of came out of the blue!
I also announced that I was going to make an effort to read more and step away from the iPad…well, that didn’t go over quite as planned. #CantWinEmAll
September
Anticipating closing on our new home, I blogged about home decor inspiration. Pinterest came up, no surprise there.
We closed on our home and moved in!
I did a dining room tour…which became super popular on Pinterest!
October
I did a master bedroom tour…promptly followed by another post with master bedroom decor updates after only two weeks. I haven’t posted anything about the newest decor update…yes, it happened.
A home tour of the kitchen + the living room also happened this month.
I blogged about a DIY burlap wreath that my mom made (I don’t have her crafting skills…so she made it for me). Again, inspiration came from Pinterest. #nosurprisethere
November
I switched up the style of my annual ‘Thankful’ post and tried out the ‘Five on Friday‘ theme….aaaand I haven’t done that since. It was fun while it lasted.
I opened up and shared a very personal story from October about our experience with an ectopic pregnancy. I’m usually very quiet about personal struggles, but I felt compelled to share this story after reading about others who have also struggled with this.
December
A very slack blogging month, but I posted about our Christmas decor and my favorite holiday inspiration ideas.
We also spent a lot of time enjoying the holidays with our families!
It’s definitely been a roller coaster of a year, and I can’t say that I’m sad to see it go. While there were many great memories, there were also some situations that I’m happy to leave behind in 2013. Here’s to love, celebrations, happiness, and blessings in 2014. Cheers!
Happy New Year!
