Happy 22nd Birthday to me…I think we all leave the excitement behind after our 21st birthday, or at least it seems that way! I remember growing up how I so looked forward to turning the big 1-0…because that meant double digits. Then it was on to 13…because that meant I could finally call myself a teenager. Even though I already acted like one a while before the actual milestone!
Then the next BIG birthday was my 16th. Yes, I watched too much My Super Sweet Sixteen for my own good…and yes, I had a super sweet sixteen birthday party. My parents are too good to me! ๐ I invited about…150 people, including all of my family of course! We rented out a local spot, had plenty of food (I made a lot of it…I’m such an entertainer. That, or either, I just like to have control over everything. I go with the latter…haha), there were party favors, a DJ, and lots of decorations. Teenagers will be teenagers, and I’m pretty sure there was some “real” partying going on out in the parking lot, if you catch my drift ๐ But, it was extremely fun and I’ll never forget it. In fact, I remember that birthday like it was yesterday…and its been 6 years! Wow. I’m getting old…

Not at my birthday, but my best friends nonetheless ๐ |
Then 18 came along, which was pretty exciting. It meant college and new experiences. But it also meant parting ways with my best friends who I’d known forever! It was still a fun birthday, nevertheless ๐
Years 19 and 20 were pretty special too, because my college roomies and I always made a point of celebrating each others birthdays. Our birthday was like our special day…always involved our favorite cake of choice…which we all ate out of the pan with a fork (classy, I know!), cute gifts, and lots of hanging out together ๐
Then the BIG year finally got here last year: 21! I had looked forward to this birthday for a while…even though I honestly wasn’t too keen on getting older, I just wanted that rite of passage and the ability to buy alcohol. Even though, honestly, I started drinking at the young age of 15…when I snuck a wine cooler at an ex-boyfriend’s family cookout and felt like a badass. Can anyone else relate to that?! haha ๐ Unfortunately, my birthday fell on my Spring Break, so I was at home and not able to do the traditional bar crawl in Blacksburg. Lame! BUT, since my birthday falls so close to St. Patrick’s Day, I went out with my roommates for St. Patty’s and had a late birthday celebration. Not complaining…I got free drinks the entire night. Then got left downtown and had to walk a mile in 5-inch heels with a frat boy to his car in order for him to give me a ride back to my townhouse. Drinking always makes for good stories, right?!
So here’s to 22 years, and hopefully many more! I may not be thrilled about getting older, but its all about the journey…and my journey is just beginning ๐
-xoxo
