Let’s face it, being stuck at home is hard for us all. I️ know this especially rings true for families who are now working from home instead of an office and doing schoolwork at the kitchen table instead of in a classroom. For me, things aren’t drastically different since I️ spend most of my time at home with three young kids. With that said, knowing that we can’t go to the playground, to Trader Joe’s, or to soccer and swim lessons is a little bit sad for all of us. My girls keep asking to go places and we have to tell them no on repeat. After a full week of practicing social distancing at home, we decided to drive out on Sunday and have a little bit of fun – without leaving our vehicle! It got me thinking about some new ideas for keeping the kids entertained and I️ realized we had already done some fun, out of the ordinary things over the past week that I️ wanted to share with you guys! I️ know many of us mamas are leaning on one another during this time, commiserating and sharing brilliant ideas, so I️’m hoping this post with 25 fun family activities will inspire you in the days and weeks to come!

Fun Family Activities To Do While Social Distancing

- Play outdoors with bubbles
- Draw on the sidewalk or fence with chalk
- Relax on a swing or hammock
- Have a campfire and s’mores
- Fly a kite
- Have a picnic in your backyard
- Have an Easter egg hunt (inside or outside!)
- Build a fort in the living room and watch a movie
- Make a muffin tin lunch
- Bake a sweet treat
- Have a dress-up fashion show
- Make homemade playdough
- Make slime
- Go watch airplanes take off and land (CLT airport has a cool overlook spot!)
- Drive through the car wash
- Go for a walk in your neighborhood
- Bring out your water table or inflatable swimming pool for water fun
- Do a workout as a family
- Plant flowers or a garden
- Have a scavenger hunt at home or in the neighborhood
- Play a board game
- Have a family soccer game
- Let the kids play in the bathtub with bubbles and these color drops
- Play hide and seek (indoors or out)
- Have a family campout in the living room (or backyard if you’re up for that)

When all else fails, make sure you have wine! Kidding…but not really. Despite the circumstances, I️ feel like we’ve handled social distancing pretty well and I️ have good intentions to do more of these fun family activities over the next few days and weeks while we’re all at home together! It’s easy to feel negative about the whole situation – after all, it’s not in our nature to stay home 24/7 – but take some time to enjoy this extra time you have with your family since this is not the norm for most of us! <3
Have you done any fun family activities that I️ didn’t mention? Please share in the comments!

I’m such a big fan of your muffin tin lunches. I just think it’s the cutest idea, ever. I keep saying I’m going to try this with my son, who’s practically a 6 ft man, because I think he’d get a good laugh out of it…and secretly like it a bit too! Happy you’re keeping those sweet girls busy.
Aww! You should totally try it and get a good laugh out of it! It’s basically like a charcuterie tray, so we can all get enjoyment out of it! 🙂
I LOVE these ideas Brittany! So fun! Pinning it now!
Thanks, Holley! <3
Fun ideas!! I would love that cinnamon roll recipe–looks so good!
It was so good! Found it on The Recipe Critic’s blog <3
