Happy Cinco de Mayo! How convenient that it falls on Taco Tuesday this year – sounds like the ideal day, am I️ right? With all of the beautiful weather we’ve been having, I️’ve been craving summery drinks – and margaritas have been my go-to lately. I️ actually don’t love all of the sugar in margarita mixes (I️’m just not into overly sugary alcoholic drinks, in general), so I️ came up with my own skinny margarita recipe that I️’ve been enjoying lately.

I️ thought now would be a great time to share it with you! Luckily, there are only four ingredients and you may already have everything you need at home.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces silver tequila
- 1-1.5 ounces triple sec
- 0.5 ounces lime juice
- 3-4 ounces orange or lime sparkling water (like La Croix or Bubly)
- Ice
- Slice of lime for garnish
Instructions
- In a glass, add tequila and triple sec. Squeeze fresh lime juice into the glass (or use bottled juice).
- Top with 3-4 ounces of flavored sparkling water.
- Add crushed ice and garnish with lime slice.
- Enjoy!

In my opinion, silver tequila is the way to go. I prefer the light taste in comparison to gold tequila, but you can technically use any kind for these margs – I’ve made them with both kinds! I use Jose Cuervo, but next time, I’m going to try Casamigos Blanco – I’ve heard it’s even better.
You can also make different variations of this skinny margarita or add different ingredients to mix things up. Sometimes I️’ll add a splash of orange juice, or use orange or tangerine sparkling water rather than lime flavor. Also, sometimes I️ enjoy adding the salt rim to my glass but most of the time, I️ skip it. The best thing about this recipe for skinny margaritas is that you really can’t go wrong, no matter how you vary the recipe. I️ love that I️ can feel better about enjoying a cocktail without all of the added sugar of most margaritas!
