With Prime Day right around the corner, I’ve been making my list of Amazon favorites that I hope to purchase at a discount during the sale. I’m not sure exactly what will be on sale this year, but figured it was worth monitoring in case things I’m eyeing are discounted! Here’s what I suggest if you’re a mama-to-be hoping to snag some deals.
Prepping for Prime Day
To be honest, I never really shopped Prime Day seriously, but with a growing list of needs for baby and only a short amount of time to prepare (I’m 36 weeks!), I thought it would be worth keeping track of all the sales this year.
Make Sure You Have Prime
First things first, if you’ve never shopped Prime Day, make sure you are an Amazon Prime member! Only members have the opportunity to snag these deals, plus having Prime just makes life so much easier, especially if you have kids. I find myself ordering things we need randomly and with just the click of a button – and most things are cheaper than you can find at places like Target.
Create a Baby Registry
I initially didn’t create a baby registry this time, because I’ve already had two kids and won’t be having any baby showers. However, stores tend to offer freebies and completion discounts if you have a registry, so I went ahead and created one on Amazon (and Target, too). For Prime Day, this will make it super easy to monitor price drops on any item I added to my Amazon Baby Registry, so if you plan to shop the sale, definitely create a registry! It’s entirely free and you can receive a Welcome Box and a completion discount just for having a registry with Amazon.
Research the Best Baby Products
I’m huge on researching things before I buy, so even though this is my third baby, I’ve still done plenty of searching around and asking questions before buying anything. There are always new baby products out there, so I don’t necessarily feel like I know what the *best* items are right now even though I may have known several years ago!
Don’t Wait to Purchase
Definitely review the fine print first, but in general, things you order from Amazon Prime are returnable. If there’s something you want and it’s on sale, snag it while you can before it sells out! At worst, you can return it if you change your mind. For the items I know for certain I need for baby #3, I plan to quickly buy them if they do happen to go on sale!
My Amazon Favorites for Baby
Halo Bassinest – I never had a bassinet with my girls and relied on the Rock ‘n Play way more than I like to admit. Since it has been recalled, I definitely won’t be using it again so I need something safer for baby #3. I really like the Halo Bassinest because the mesh is breathable and it sits right next to the bed for easy access to baby.
ErgoBaby 360 Baby Carrier – I have a Baby Bjorn and a Solly Baby Wrap, both of which I really like. However, I’ve heard really good things about the Ergo and definitely need something that allows me to hold baby hands-free with two other kids running around! I’ve always wanted one of these but never felt it was a necessity…until now. Being outnumbered is a tad bit intimidating!
Haakaa Manual Pump – I don’t plan to pump regularly, but I’ve heard great things about the Haaka for catching extra milk while nursing and I’m hoping it can help me build a little stash easily. I also have a Medela Pump in Style and a Spectra S1 pump when I actually want to use those, but I honestly avoid pumping as much as possible since I was chained to it while working full-time after having my first daughter.
Owlet Smart Sock – This is one of those ‘nice to haves’ that I might purchase if it goes on sale. We actually have the Snuza clip-on breathing monitor, which also has good reviews, but I like the Owlet’s capabilities and easy monitoring of baby’s breathing via the app.
Car Seat Head Support – We actually have one of these packed up somewhere, but we aren’t sure where. Since it’s inexpensive, I plan to just buy a new one for the infant car seat. We have the Britax B-Safe car seat, but it doesn’t have great head support for tiny babies, so we bought one of these head supports a few days after our first daughter was born and have always used it until our babies had the strength to hold their heads up.
Puracy Stain Remover – I’ve heard great things about this brand of stain remover…and we all know babies stain lots of clothing in the first few months! It’s actually a bit cheaper on Amazon than other places, so I plan to order it even if it isn’t on sale on Prime Day.
Baby Care Essentials – Lastly, there are always baby essentials to stock up on before a new baby arrives! I like to stock up on things like diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, breastmilk storage bags, diaper cream, diaper pail refills, etc. when I catch them on sale. I’ve actually never shopped Prime Day for baby items specifically, so I’m not sure what will go on sale, but I’ll for sure be checking on these essentials!
