My Favorite Entryway Decor Ideas

February 19, 2020 Comments : 6

One of my major focuses right now is choosing entryway decor for our foyer area, so I️ thought I️’d share my vision and what I️’m currently eyeing! We were able to reuse a majority of our decor around the house when we moved, but since we didn’t really have a formal entryway in our last house, I️ didn’t have any pieces that worked in our new house.

Right now, our entryway decor doesn’t exist – it’s so bare and it’s driving me crazy if I️’m being honest! I️ lost focus on it during the holidays because there was just so much going on, but now that the holiday decor is gone, I️ really notice how empty this area is. I️’ve been browsing online for ideas and inspiration, and I️ think I️ have a general idea of what I️’d like. I️ thought I️’d share some of my favorite entryway decor looks and then the pieces I️’m actually considering for our house.

The current state of our entryway

The Entryway Decor Formula

Ultimately, any home decor should directly reflect your personal taste – so the specific style I️ like may differ from your style, etc. However, I️ definitely think there’s a science to styling your home – such as varying textures, heights, colors, etc. This basic concept applies to any style of decor, whether it’s modern or farmhouse or traditional or any other type. What you’ll often see in an entryway, regardless of decor style, is a small table with a lamp, a mirror (or framed artwork) hung over it and a few small pieces of decor on the table.

Even if home decor isn’t necessarily your thing, following this simple formula can help guide you in the right direction when creating a welcoming entryway: TABLE + MIRROR + LAMP!

Determining Your Home Decor Style

I️ felt pretty confident I️ knew my design style, but I️ did this fun quiz on Havenly the other day just to see if it was accurate and I️ think it was! I️ was a tie between traditional and Southern coastal and I️ think that’s pretty spot on. I️’m not so far into coastal decor that I️ want nautical or beach-themed decor in my home, but the color palette and wood tones definitely fall into that category. In terms of decor pieces and window treatments, I️ lean more on the traditional side. Knowing my general style is helpful and guides me when trying to pull together decor throughout my house. I️ think it’s okay to mix and match, but for me, I️ like to have general cohesiveness with my decor!

Entryway Decor Inspiration

I️ wanted to share some photos of entryway decor that I️ love – I️’ve been pinning ideas to my Pinterest board for a long time now. We always wanted a two-story entryway but our last house didn’t have one and we ended up ultimately liking the house for other reasons. This time, it was a priority, and we were able to find the house that checked all of the boxes, including a pretty entryway, among many other things. So, I️’ve been very excited to decorate this part of the house, as you can imagine!

Entryway Decor I️’m Eyeing

So, something to know about me is that while I️ love traditional decor, I️’m not the antique furniture type. I️ totally admire those of you who have an eye for this (and the talent of refinishing furniture, too!), but I️ think I️ just lack the patience for it. I️ have refinished old furniture before, way before we had kids, and it was pretty fun – but I️ just can’t imagine when I️’d have enough alone time to focus on this type of project these days! Long story short, I️ am pulling together my entryway decor by shopping online. 🙂

Even though I️ want to jump into this process full force, I️’m trying to take my time so I️ can get it right the first time without regretting my decor decisions. Stay tuned – once I️ finish this project, I️’ll be sure to share the final result!

I’m super guilty of jumping into home decor projects without a good plan and then making 50 trips back and forth to stores finding the “perfect” pieces! I love that you’re taking your time and I can’t wait to see what you decide on 💗

Oh, yes, me too! I️’m trying to be more thoughtful this time, but in the past, I️’ve jumped in full force! I️ do think that sometimes it takes a while to pull a room together and making multiple trips can help you find the right pieces so there’s no wrong in that 🙂
