We’ve been living here in Memphis for almost two years now, and one of the things I missed about back in Virginia was that I could just pop into Nordstrom anytime. I used to work within walking distance to the store, too, so that was dangerous!
Surprisingly, there were no Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack stores within driving distance of the Memphis area – until last week! We finally got a Nordstrom Rack and I’m pretty sure the entire area was buzzing about it. 🙂
My Experience
I couldn’t wait any longer to check it out, so I went on the very first Saturday it was open (the grand opening was October 5th) – and I expected it to be total chaos, honestly. I was pleasantly surprised that even though the store was jam-packed, it was actually pretty quiet and almost everyone was super nice and not rude. Usually shopping can bring out the worst in people, but not here! The store employees were also extremely nice and helpful.
I actually didn’t walk around the entire store, because it was decently crowded – instead, I made a beeline for the women’s section. I felt like the prices were overall pretty good, but I do think they could improve the selection a bit. I usually shop Nordstrom Rack online and I feel like there’s so much more inventory – though, it may be just because it’s more organized and easier to browse online. I’ve actually gotten quite fond of online shopping because it tends to be easier and more convenient for me as a mama. And I’ll probably continue shopping at Nordstrom Rack online, too, but it’ll be nice to make returns in-store to prevent paying return shipping fees.
There were a decent amount of designer items throughout the store and I actually saw lots of Tory Burch shoes, but tried to keep myself away to avoid temptation! I even walked past the handbag section entirely, because they’re totally my weakness. I did quickly browse the toddler/kids section and found a cute outfit for Blair that was on clearance. To be honest, I will probably only buy kids clothing from Nordstrom Rack that are on clearance, because otherwise, they’re a little too pricey for items that are inevitably going to get stained (my kids can’t be the only messy ones, right!?).
Try-On Session
I was most pleasantly surprised that despite how busy the store was, there was no line in the fitting room – I was able to walk right in and start trying on clothes. I was able to snap a few iPhone photos of some things I tried on and I’ll also share what I ended up buying!
1. This maroon ruffle tee is perfect for Hokie gameday and the warmer fall weather we’ve been having! Purchased.
2. Loved this dark green ruffle sweater – had to snag this one!
3. These distressed jeans were really cute and under $40 – I’m kind of mad at myself for not buying them now!
4. This cold-shoulder sweater was so cute and cozy…and came in a few other colors, too – but it was see-through and I really didn’t want to have to wear a tank top underneath, so I passed it up.
I also got a pair of Zella leggings and the cutest pair of white distressed jeans and a Tucker + Tate blouse (super cute brand for kids!) for Blair. Here’s the only picture I have of her wearing it 😉
Overall, I had a great experience at Nordstrom Rack and will definitely be back again! Now, if only we could get an actual Nordstrom store here, too 😉
