Racing for a New PR…

One of my goals for the New Year was to run at least one race per month. And I already failed. haha. I couldn’t find a good January race in the area, and since I’ll most likely be in Europe this Summer, the months of May-July aren’t exactly going to work out too well either! Oh well…maybe next year 😉

February 12 – VA Is For Lovers 14k
I ran this race last year, and had an amazing time. Literally. haha. I surprised myself at my finish time for last year’s race…and I’m going for an even better time this year. Let’s see if my faster training runs pay off this time around!

March 20 – Shamrock Half Marathon
This will be my third year running the half marathon. Before that, I ran the 8k about three times as well. Last year, I had planned to do the marathon, but then switched to the half because I didn’t train properly and didn’t want to risk injury. This year I just went ahead and signed up for the half, because I knew that marathon training was not in the cards this winter…law school consumes my life! I was impressed with last year’s finish time of 1:55…which means this year, I have to beat that time! Ideally, I want to go for 1:45, but we’ll see how that goes!

April 10 – Flying Pirate Half Marathon
I haven’t signed up yet…but I plan to. Probably should do that really soon! This would be my first year running this race, but I’ve heard good things about it! This would also be the first time I’ve run two half marathons less than a month apart. I’m pretty sure that won’t be a problem though…sometimes I forget how far I’ve come as a runner over the past year! Its amazing how training intently can really improve your pace and endurance. Never give up…you can achieve what you didn’t think was possible! 🙂
