With all of the activity ideas out there for kids (including some I️ shared a few weeks ago), our little ones are covered for the long haul. But what about us adults? Obviously, many of us are working in some capacity, whether it’s working remotely for your company, doing freelance work or teaching your kids, among other things.

But with all of this time stuck at home, it’s important to get a break from the day-to-day and have a change of scenery, despite the fact you can’t actually go anywhere (well, other than the grocery store…).
5 Things to Try While Stuck at Home
Home Projects

Yardwork
I️ don’t know about you guys, but we’ve spent a LOT more time outdoors and working in the yard over the past month. With the beautiful weather and a lot more time on our hands, we’ve had no excuse but to get the yard ready for the summer months.
Painting
We tried to get the whole house painted before we moved in, but with three kids, that inevitably didn’t happen. We didn’t even attempt to finish during the busy holiday season, but we were itching to get it done early this year. Being stuck at home finally pushed us to knock it off the list! I️’m down to two small projects that still need paint and can’t wait to finish entirely.
Decorate
We have several rooms in our house that need decor, like our entryway and our dining room. Like I️ mentioned in this post, I️’m working with Havenly on our dining room decor – my designer just sent through the final rendering over the weekend and I️’m excited to pull the look together! Now I️ just need HomeGoods back in my life…

Pampering
Self-Tanning
I️ love having a little bit of color as the weather warms up and try to use self-tanner once a week. I️ love Isle of Paradise tanning foam and tanning drops for everyday color, but I️ wanted to try something that was a little more dramatic and looked like I️ just came back from vacation. At the recommendation of many bloggers, I️ tried Loving Tan tanning foam and really like it! It’s nice to try new tanning products while we’re stuck at home, since no one will see if you have a botched tanning job! Haha 🙂
Beauty Products
Another thing to try out when you won’t be leaving the house is new makeup and other beauty products. I️ have my daily routine pretty much down to a science, but I️’ve had several products I️’ve wanted to try and had been holding out. One of those was Tarte Shape Tape and I️’m now obsessed!
Spring Cleaning
This is the typical time of year when many of us try to tackle spring cleaning, but it usually gets crammed into one weekend. Being home and having more time, I’ve tried to break down my cleaning routine and spring cleaning projects and tackle 1-2 of them per day. Things like going through clothing, organizing closets and drawers and cleaning out the pantry seem more manageable when you only have to focus on one at a time!
Get In the Kitchen

I️ enjoy cooking and baking all the time, but rarely have the time to make anything out of the ordinary. I️’ve tried to use this extra time to enjoy my time in the kitchen a little more. I️’ve tried several new recipes, including some that require a little extra work. I️’ve also baked some sweet treats with the girls (which we certainly don’t need sitting around, but they enjoy it!).
Get Moving

I️ know many of us already worked out, but this whole being forced to stay home has made gyms and fitness studios (and all of us!) think outside the box. Two of my favorite workouts, Burn Boot Camp and Pure Barre, offer live streaming workouts from my actual trainers – which is awesome! I️ also know of so many other programs doing the same thing. I️ really think being at home and having more time has helped all of us be more consistent with our workouts. We’ve also been taking long walks as a family in the early evening and we’ve found new trails in our neighborhood we didn’t know existed prior to this.
What have you done to stay busy while stuck at home? Any ideas I️ missed?

Love all your ideas! I’ve done quite a few but could probably do a better job at self-care if I’m being truthful. I’m almost working too hard these days if that makes any sense at all. 🤷🏽♀️
I️ totally get it! I️’ve found myself working harder, too – kind of ironic, no?! Having my husband working at home has given me a bit more time to focus on work, so I️ have a hard time stopping and taking a break!
We’e been doing a lot of baking…thankfully working out too. I am so tired at the end of the day though–it is a lot to juggle.
Yes, agreed! I️’ve been a lot more tired than usual – but it’s still been nice to spend time as a family! It’s a good thing the baking and working out are happening in conjunction, right?!
Love these ideas! Do you know how much Pure Barre is to join for on-demand classes?

Thanks! I️ think the Pure Barre On Demand option is like $29 per month! It used to be anyways 🙂 I️t is included as part of a regular membership, so I️ haven’t checked the standalone price in a while!
Thanks for the article, I know we’re all super bored right now. Personally, I’ve been gardening—it’s great for my mental health and my landscaping 🙂
I️ love gardening, too!
