Trunk Club | My Honest Review

May 13, 2020 Comments : 6

As you guys know from previous posts, I️’ve tried several clothing subscription boxes over the years. Each one has had its pros and cons, and I️’ve enjoyed mixing things up by trying different subscriptions. I️ decided to take a break from Stitch Fix this year and had heard some good things about Nordstrom’s Trunk Club, so I️ tried it for the first time back in February.

Trunk Club Honest Review

My Thoughts on Trunk Club

I️’m a loyal Nordstrom shopper already, so I️ was excited to have a stylist pick some things for me that I️ might not choose on my own. The process is pretty straightforward and similar to other subscription services – you answer questions about your style, sizing and the types of items you’re looking for. There is a $25 styling fee, which is applied as a credit to anything you choose to keep. When you schedule a trunk delivery, your stylist will review your info and any specific requests and send you a preview of your trunk.

If you’re into the element of surprise, you may not like this step of the process. Unlike others, Trunk Club allows you to review and reject items that you don’t want the stylist to send (and you can share notes about why you don’t like the items). While I️ sometimes like being surprised, I️ like that I️ can reject items I️ know I️ won’t like (certain styles, cuts or patterns) before it arrives at my doorstep. AND, your stylist will replace your rejected items with new options before your trunk is shipped. I️ still found that some of my stylist’s options took me out of my comfort zone in a good way, and I️ tried styles that I️ may not have chosen for myself.

Trunk Club is shipped via UPS and you’re provided with a return label and tape to ship back what you don’t keep in the same box. You can schedule a pickup at your house, which is super convenient. Anytime I️ can avoid going to the post office or UPS Store with three kids, I️ do!

My Latest Trunk Club Box

I️ just got my second trunk delivered last week and wanted to share what I️ received and tell you guys what I️ kept! Nordstrom was actually having a big sale and I️ was able to take advantage of the pricing through Trunk Club as well. I️ love that you can also use any Nordstrom Notes or gift cards, etc. to purchase Trunk Club items. PS – use my referral link for a $50 credit!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Halogen Pleat Neck Tank – I️ really loved this color and the style was cute, too – but I️ found the buttons at the back of the neckline to be SO hard to unbutton! And it requires unbuttoning to put on and take off, so I️ ultimately decided against it. Super cute shirt, though!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Madewell Cotton V-Neck Tee – I️ love a basic tee, but this one was a bit too sheer and I️ would have preferred a size up for a looser fit. Madewell is one of my favorite brands, though, and I️ think I️ would’ve kept this had it been a little more roomy!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Wit & Wisdom Fray Ankle Skinny Jeans – This brand makes very comfortable jeans, but I️’m not a huge fan of this style on myself. I️ don’t love ankle jeans and really don’t like the frayed ends. But they are cute and steeply discounted!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Topshop Chili Pepper Crop Sweatshirt – I️ *almost* kept this one. Cropped sweatshirts are a thing right now and they’re very comfy for lounging around the house. I️ just couldn’t justify the cost (even on sale) for this when I️ could totally pull a Kathleen Barnes (aka Carrie Bradshaw Lied) and make my own!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Girlfriend Collective 7/8 Leggings + Zella Stripe Open Back Tank – These leggings were cute, but I️ prefer mine to be a little thicker fabric and I️ really didn’t need any more at the moment. I️ do love the variety of colors they come in. This top was super cute and on sale for $17, so I️ clearly kept it! Unfortunately, it looks like it’s out of stock now but maybe they’ll restock.

Trunk Club Honest Review

Caslon Knit Ruffle Dress – I️ was really hopeful that I️’d like this more once I️ put it on, but it was a size too big (I️ think you always need to size down in this brand FYI) and there was just way too much fabric. It would probably be cute if you got the proper size!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Madewell Northside Vintage T-Shirt Dress – I️ thought this was cute but I️’m not a huge fan of short sleeves (prefer sleeveless) and it was a little boxy. Unfortunately, I️ think it’s sold out right now but check Nordstrom and Madewell to see if it comes back!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Adidas UltraBoost DNA Running Shoes – These were actually really comfortable, but I️ was looking for something a little more sleek, so I️ decided to skip these. If you’re looking for a running shoe with lots of support, these would be a great option!

Trunk Club Honest Review

Chelsea28 Smock Waist Blouse – This is one of those things I️ probably would have passed over online, but once I️ tried it on, I️ really liked it! I️ don’t really have a lot of simple blouses that can be dressed up or down, so I️ decided to keep this one. I️ love that it’s so versatile and can be worn with shorts, white pants, jeans, etc.

Overall, I️ really like my Trunk Club experience thus far and the fact that the clothing is from brands I️ know and love. I️ will probably continue to do these every few months to slowly build my wardrobe. I️ really don’t go out shopping anymore since I️ have three kids to bring along, so I️ get everything online and try on at home and it’s so much easier. I️’ve found clothing subscription services to be a lot more appealing now than I️ did pre-kids, to be honest! You can try Trunk Club using my link and you’ll get a $50 credit!

What a bummer about the buttons on the green blouse. It went so well with your skin tone! I do love the black top you kept. Super cute! I might decide to try this out and take a tiny break from Stitch Fix…I’m getting a little bored with it.

Oh I love everything you got. The green top and the athletic tank top are my favorite. I like the variety you seem to get in your box. I think I need to check it out.

Thanks! I️ really liked the things I️ got this time, too! It’s great because you can get 10-12 items, which pretty much guarantees you’ll like a few things 🙂

A little glimpse of what’s most important in lif A little glimpse of what’s most important in life - family, togetherness, snuggles ❤️ I’ll be honest and say that running a business takes a lot out of you, and some days I question whether it’s worth it. There is another business that has been out to get me since I started, and yesterday they tried to win. I all but gave up yesterday. It just didn’t feel worth it to put up a fight when I could go back to my ‘old’ life of being a mom, blogger, and freelance writer (all 3 of which I’ve sucked at since starting my charcuterie biz). I felt guilty for spending 6 months of my life growing a business and then letting it fall apart. I felt guilty for all the time spent away from my family because I was so busy and could barely keep up. And then I remembered why I was so busy, it’s because people appreciate my work and love what I do. I built a brand that people respect and all of that hard work is most definitely worth it when I see how far I’ve come in the past 6 months. This is a reminder for all of us to never give up and never let the enemy win. ❤️
