Working with Havenly | Dining Room Design

May 6, 2020 Comments : 4

A few weeks ago, I️ shared that we were working on our dining room with Havenly to pull the room design together. Now that my design is complete and I️ just need to shop (the fun part!), I️ thought I️’d share about my experience working with the Havenly team and how it works.

Working with Havenly to Design a Dining Room

Getting Started with Havenly

Up until this point, I️’ve always decorated my home on my own without the help of a designer. In the past, I️’ve gotten a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices and styles out there and had a hard time making a cohesive look. When we moved into our new house, I️ wanted to make bold decor choices, which was equal parts exciting and intimidating! After researching ideas for months and months without coming to a decision, I️ thought it would be a good idea to get the help of a design professional.

How Havenly Works

I️’d heard of Havenly through several bloggers and I️ was pleasantly surprised at the quality of design services at a reasonable price. I️ took the Style Quiz on the site and felt like it nailed my style right away! I️’m a mix of Coastal and Traditional. Then, they matched me up with designers who have a similar style and I️ was able to look through their portfolios before making a choice. I️ ended up working with Sara Vander Molen and she was so great!

There are two design options:

  • Mini Design: This option helps you decide on finishing touches in a room, like artwork, small decor pieces, window treatments, rugs, etc.
  • Full Design: This option starts with a blank canvas and pulls together an entire room, including furnishings (if you choose), a layout visual of your new design and a custom floor plan.

Both are reasonably priced, in my opinion. I️ ended up going with the Full Design option for the dining room, since I️ wanted help with the layout of the room.

Designing Our Dining Room with Havenly

Once you’ve chosen a designer for your space, you’ll have a chance to share inspiration photos, notes and your style quiz results will be shared, too. Your designer will take all of that info and pull together three concepts/mood boards to share with you. I️ loved all three concepts, to be honest, but there was definitely a stand-out! I️ had to rate all three and make notes of what I️ liked and didn’t like about each.

Concept Three

For our dining room design, I️ actually liked several decor pieces from one concept but preferred the overall aesthetic of another concept, so I️ mentioned that to Sara and she made it work! With my preferred concept in mind, she created the final design, including a shopping list of products to pull the room together. She also created a layout and rendering of the room, which was helpful. She suggested we rearrange our dining room table to make more room to walk and have space for a small console table. I️ had considered moving the table before, but her rendering helped me visualize how it would look and I️ loved it!

Shopping Your Havenly Design

One of the neat things about Havenly is the fact you can shop directly on the site for products, as the Havenly Shop pulls in lots of different retailers. They also have a best price guarantee, so if something is on sale at Wayfair, for example, that price should be reflected on the Havenly Shop. I️ will probably order the bigger items, like the console table, lighting, rug, etc. online, but for the smaller decor pieces like artwork and table decor, I️ really want to go into HomeGoods and look around. I️ feel like you can find unique pieces and better deals by going that route for smaller items.

Overall, I️ loved my experience working with Havenly and plan to use the service again for our living room built-ins and wall decor (probably a mini design) and maybe other spaces in our house that need some decor help! PS – you can use my referral link to save $50 off a Full Design or $20 off a Mini Design!

It’s so hard to make design decisions! Definitely recommend trying Havenly – it helped me soooo much! Even if you just use it for design inspiration and then purchase items on your own 🙂

This sounds an awesome service. I could use this for our living room as we need a new couch and I want to make sure I get the right layout. So fun!

Prolon Day 3 | The day started off really good — Prolon Day 3 | The day started off really good — I felt very clear-minded and awake this AM 🥳 Truly, I was nervous because today was a very low-cal day and I wasn’t sure how I’d feel 😅 I did grab a plain iced espresso because my energy was depleting super quickly and that def helped 👌🏼 After lunch, though, I started to hate depriving myself of real food and disliked that I couldn’t push myself in my workouts like I usually do 😒 After dealing with three kids who clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed 😆, slicing my hand open with a knife and being cranky and irritable because I’ve been hangry for 3 days, I caved. And sorry, not sorry ✌🏼 I just wanted a dang salad and some protein so I can lift heavy things 💪🏼 Moral of the story, listen to your body and what it needs. And maybe try a 1-2 day cleanse/fast because that’s about all mine could handle 🤪

@prolonfmd Day Two | Overall an easier day than ye @prolonfmd Day Two | Overall an easier day than yesterday 👌🏼 Time went by faster and I didn’t have any nausea from being hungry…I looked forward to and savored all of today’s meals — the black bean soup for dinner was actually really good (esp with a little cumin + paprika!) 🙌🏼 I did @pure_barre this AM and then a @onepeloton walk this afternoon…keeping it light because of how little I’m consuming this week 😅 Not gonna lie, nervous for day 3 because it’s the lightest day of food and I’m already pretty hangry in general 🤣 Interestingly, I’ve felt pretty amazing today other than just craving a real meal 👌🏼 Btw, was so hungry for dinner that I forgot to share it in the reel 🤦🏼‍♀️

@prolonfmd Day One | The struggle is real 😅 I’ve done cleanses in the past so I’m no stranger to this…but coming off a few weeks of holiday drinks and some indulgences, today was no easy feat 🤣 My energy definitely ebbed and flowed throughout the day, and felt weak and nauseated every now and then from lack of calories and protein 🙈 It was the longest day ever, but I cleaned, vacuumed, mopped and then did a @onepeloton walk & yoga class and still had time left over (side note, why doesn’t every day feel this long?! 😆). Actually feeling good this evening after having a sparkling water ‘mocktail’, energized and clear-minded 👌🏼

2022 — what a year ✨ It challenged me in so ma 2022 — what a year ✨ It challenged me in so many ways, but I also thrived in many ways. Continuing to grow a business with a husband, three kids, a dog and two cats is not a simple feat but here we are 😏 We adventured a LOT this year - from Girl Scout adventures to family vacations to HHI, the mountains, OBX and more, we had plenty of fun and made lots of memories 😘 The best part of this year was just really allowing myself to live in the moment and not allow stress to overtake me as I’ve allowed it in the past 😅 I also rediscovered my love of running thanks to my @onepeloton Tread and hit big goals at @purebarre_highlandcreek 💪🏼 Here’s to living more in the present, accomplishing bigger goals and dreams and having an amazing 2023 🥂
